As the last hands-on process before a piece begins its transition into metal, wax working is paramount to attaining a high quality casting. Using the rubber mold created off the initial sculpture, we pour a wax replica, then meticulously look over the entire surface, chasing back any seams and imperfections by hand. The client is encouraged to come in to make any last minute modifications and sign off on the wax moving forward. This approach guarantees the wax pattern perfectly reflects every detail of the original artwork.
We then use our years of experience to properly add gates and vents, which will ultimately act as pathways for the metal to travel and fill the piece. This decision making process is integral to ensuring a superior casting, and must take into consideration all the intricacies of each unique piece.
